Man lucky to escape with minor injuries following hit-run

Nunawading Highway Patrol is appealing for witnesses following a hit-run collision which left a car on its roof in Malvern East last week, Victoria Police say.

It is believed a grey Ford Ranger utility was travelling west-bound on the Monash Freeway near Warrigal Road about 4.45pm on Wednesday 6 December.

A dark-coloured sedan changing lanes clipped the rear passenger side of the ute, causing the victim’s vehicle to flip and slide down the freeway.

The ute came to a stop about 100 metres from the scene of the collision.

The offending vehicle, possibly a Mercedes Benz or a Holden Calais/Statesman, did not stop.

A 39-year-old Caroline Springs man, who was the single occupant of the Ford, was taken to hospital with, incredibly, only minor injuries.

Investigators have been told the offending vehicle, possible partial registration ‘ASS-???’, may have been driving erratically prior to the collision.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or any erratic driving in the area prior to the crash is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
