Man returns reading of 0.303; charged with high range PCA - Chifley Police District

A man has been charged after he was allegedly caught drink driving in the state's Central West at the weekend.

About 8.15pm on Sunday (29 August 2021), officers from Chifley Police District were patrolling as part of the ongoing COVID-19 compliance operation when they stopped a Ford Falcon on Lachlan Street, Cowra, due to the driver allegedly not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver – a 57-year-old man – was subjected to a roadside breath test and returned a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Cowra Police Station, where he underwent a breath analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.303, more than six times the legal limit.

The man was issued a Court Attendance Notice for drive with high range PCA and issued infringements notices for driver not wear seatbelt and fail to comply with notice direction in relation to section 7/8/9 -COVID-19.

He will appear at Cowra Local Court on Wednesday 6 October 2021.
