Police are investigating after a man armed with an axe robbed a supermarket in Kiama Downs yesterday, NSW Police say.
About 6.15pm (Sunday 12 August 2108), a man armed with a small axe entered a supermarket in Johnson Street and threatened a 14-year-old employee.
The armed man took cash from the counter area before leaving the store and was seen to leave in a stolen white VW Transporter van.
Police attended and established a crime scene.
The stolen van was located in nearby Alexander Street and will be forensically examined.
Police are now searching for a man described as being about 16-170cm tall with a thin build. At the time of the robbery he was wearing dark clothing and had his face covered.
No one was injured during the incident and investigations are continuing.
