Man's extradition sought after Queensland arrest, NSW

NSW Police will be seeking the extradition of a man from Queensland after a firearm was produced during a pursuit earlier this week in the NSW Moree Plains region.

About 1.30am Tuesday 21 February 2017, police located a Toyota Landcruiser utility pulled over on the Bruxner Highway, Boggabilla, 115km north east of Moree, with its headlights on.

Officers attached to Barwon Local Area Command stopped and spoke to the man, before attempting to conduct a breath test.

It will be alleged the man immediately drove off and a pursuit was initiated.

During the pursuit, the man allegedly produced a rifle and pointed it in the direction of the police vehicle. The pursuit was immediately terminated.

Overnight Queensland Police, with the assistance of NSW Police from Barwon Local Area Command, arrested a 59-year-old Fassifern Valley (Queensland) man after a pursuit near Goondiwindi, NSW Police say.

After being charged with a number of offences he will appear before the Warwick Magistrates Court today.

At the conclusion of legal action in Queensland, NSW Police will seek the man’s extradition.
