Man seriously assaulted at Elizabeth South, SA

Police are investigating a serious assault at Elizabeth South last night that has left a man in hospital, according to SA Police.

About 10.45pm, Monday 30 January, the victim was involved in a verbal altercation on Hill Street before he was assaulted by a group of men.

The man sustained serious head injuries and broken ribs. He was taken to the Lyell McEwin hospital before being transferred to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Investigations are continuing into the assault, police do not believe it is a random attack. A man was arrested at the scene for a separate matter (parole board warrant).
