Police are investigating the circumstances of a shooting in Hamilton tonight, NSW Police say.
About 10.40pm (Monday 18 December 2017), three men, one armed with a firearm, entered a unit on Gordon Avenue and spoke with a 37-year-old male occupant.
A confrontation occurred resulting in the occupant being shot in the face.
Emergency services were called and the man was treated at the scene before being taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
A crime scene has been established while Detectives from Newcastle City conduct further inquiries.
Early investigations suggest this may have been targeted.
Detectives are calling for anyone who may have information about this incident to contact them at Newcastle City Police Station or Crime Stoppers.
