Man shot presents to hospital at Bankstown

Detectives have commenced an investigation after a man who suffered a gunshot wound presented at a hospital in Sydney's south west yesterday.

About 7pm (Tuesday 27 April 2021), a 27-year-old man attended Bankstown Hospital suffering a gunshot wound to the leg.

He was transferred to Liverpool Hospital, where detectives from Liverpool Police Area Command were notified and attended.

Police have been told the injured man was found by a friend on the footpath at the intersection of Linden Avenue and Punchbowl Road, Punchbowl, and driven to hospital.

The man is awaiting surgery and remains in a stable condition.

Officers from Campsie Police Area Command established a crime scene at Punchbowl, which was examined by specialist forensic police.
