Man sinks boat at Garden Island, SA

A man has been arrested after allegedly trying to stab another man and sinking a boat at Garden Island boat ramp overnight, according to SA Police.

Police were called to the Garden Island boat ramp about 2.15am on Saturday 17 September and arrested a man without incident.

It will be alleged the man threatened another man with a knife and a garden hoe. He then struck the victim's aluminium boat with the garden hoe, causing it to sink.

It will also be alleged the man attended the victim's home address in Mansfield Park about 1am and caused damage to the victim's car's tyres.

Fortunately, no one was injured during either incident.

By the time police patrols arrived at the boat ramp, the man had disposed of the weapons and police divers will attend the morning to try to recover them from the water.

The 61-year-old Ottoway man was arrested and has been charged with unlawful threats, assault and three counts of property damage. He has been refused police bail and is expected to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police wish to reassure the public that the men involved are known to each other and this was not a random incident.
