Man sought after service station hold-up in Warilla

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward after a service station was heldup at Warilla this evening, NSW Police say.

About 6pm today (Tuesday 20 February 2018) a man entered a service station on Shellharbour Road armed with a piece of wood and threatened the console operator.

The man fled a short time later empty handed.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

Police from Lake Illawarra Police District were called and attended a short time later.

The officers established a crime scene and commenced a search for the man.

He has been described to police as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 183cm tall and with a medium build.

A police dog tracked the man to Arcadia Street where it is believed he fled in a motor vehicle.

Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
