Man sought after woman injured in stolen vehicle crash, NSW

Police are searching for a man who fled the scene of a crash, leaving an injured passenger at the crash scene, at Albion Park this morning, NSW Police say.

About 4.50am (Tuesday 4 December 2018), a stolen white VW Golf station-wagon was travelling in a southerly direction on Daintree Place when it struck the rear of a parked truck.

The truck was pushed into two parked vehicles by the impact.

After veering to the western side of the road, the VW came to a stop.

The two occupants of the VW left the crash scene and the stolen vehicle caught on fire.

A 20-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle suffered serious abdominal and leg injuries. She was found nearby.

The male driver fled from the crash scene. He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 183cm tall with a slim build.

He has short hair and was wearing a faded yellow high visibility shirt.

A blue 2013 Ford Focus sedan, with NSW registration CQ-98-VJ, was stolen from nearby Manning Street a short time later.

The VW had been stolen from Blackheath on Monday 12 November 2018.

Police have urged anyone with information about the crash, the driver or the stolen vehicle to come forward.

Members of the public are urged not to approach, but to contact police immediately.
