Man sought following break and enter and foot pursuit, NSW

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man suspected of a break and enter was able to evade police in the State’s Lake Macquarie region today, NSW Police say.

Officers attended Main Road, Edgeworth, just before 3pm following a number of calls to Triple Zero (000) regarding a man standing on a bin and trying to access a unit block through the windows.

A police officer chased the man as he ran to the rear of the building, scaled a side fence and ran from the scene.

He then entered a blue Ford Ranger parked in a nearby car yard on Arnott Street and drove away. That car has now been listed as stolen.

An iPad was also recovered by police after being dropped by the man during the foot pursuit.

Police are now seeking public assistance to identify and locate the man who is described as having a dark complexion and wearing a white T-shirt, black jeans and thongs.

They would also like to hear from any person who has been a victim of or has information about break and enters in the area.

Anyone who can assist police should contact Boolaroo Police Station or Crime Stoppers.
