Man stabbed during home invasion - Nepean

Police have commenced an investigation after a man suffered a number of stab wounds following a home invasion in Sydney's west last night.

Just before 10pm (Friday 5 March 2021), emergency services were called to a house in Collitt Crescent, Cranebrook, following reports of a break-in.

Police have been told the 57-year-old male occupant was confronted at the front door of the premises by two men. The occupant managed to push one of the men to the ground before wrestling with the second man, who was armed with a knife.

During the melee, the man suffered a number of stab wounds to the back and chest.

Nearby neighbours heard the commotion and the two men managed to run off down a nearby alley way.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital for assessment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Officers from Nepean Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
