Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a man was seriously injured following a stabbing in the CBD this morning.
Emergency services were called following reports the man had been injured in Lonsdale Street, near Queen Street, about 12.30am.
A number of people nearby at the time if the incident, provided first aid to the man until ambulance paramedics arrived.
Detectives believe the man may have been followed by two men before he was attacked.
The pair were last seen walking from the scene, east down Lonsdale street.
