Man stabbed, man arrested - Stanmore

A man has been arrested as police investigate a stabbing at Stanmore overnight.

Just after 1am (Sunday 19 May 2019), police were called to a home on Stanmore Road, after reports of an altercation.

Officers from Inner West Police Area Command attended and located a 28-year-old man with stab wounds to his neck and back, before arresting a 24-year-old man at the scene.

The older man was treated by paramedics and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The younger man was taken to Newtown Police Station where he is assisting police with inquiries.

A crime scene has been established as inquiries continue.

The pair are believed to be known to each other.
