Man suffers gun-shot wound; police investigate - Shalvey

A crime scene has been established in Shalvey after a man presented to Mt Druitt Hospital suffering a gun-shot wound to his leg last night.

Officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command were notified by hospital staff after the injured man presented at the hospital just before 7pm (Tuesday 23 July 2019).

Inquiries led police to a group of shops on Sidwell Street where they believe the 39-year-old man was shot in the leg by a group of men.

Following the shooting it's believed the men got into a dark coloured vehicle and fled the scene.

The injured man was driven to Mt Druitt Hospital where he sought treatment and remains in a stable condition.

Investigations are now underway, and police would like to speak with anyone who may have information that could assist.
