Man With Axe Arrested At Edwardstown

A man has been arrested after threatening officers with an axe at Edwardstown earlier this morning.

About 4.30am on Thursday 1 January, Southern District patrols spotted a man riding a suspected stolen moped on Railway Terrace, Edwardstown. Police attempted to stop him but he continued over the railway line where he stopped and presented an axe.

The rider attempted to run from police, however he was arrested a short distance away. A 36-year-old man from Plympton Park was charged with two counts of assaulting a prescribed emergency worker, carrying an offensive weapon, hinder and theft.

The man did not apply for bail and will appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
