Man arrested after threatening officers with axe near Parkes, NSW

A man will face court today after he allegedly threatened officers with an axe in the state’s Central West, NSW Police say.

About 6.30pm yesterday, police from Parkes Police Station were called to a house on Lachlan Street, Bogan Gate, about 40km west of Parkes, following reports of a domestic violence incident.

Officers made several inquiries at the location and left.

Later in the evening officers were called to the location again for another domestic incident.

After arriving at the premises, police were met by a man allegedly wielding a tomahawk axe.

Officers called on the man to drop the weapon and allegedly refused, however the man was arrested a short time later without incident.

The axe was seized by officers, along with a rifle which was located during a search of the home.

The 35-year-old man was taken to Parkes Police Station where he was charged with armed with intent, possess unregistered firearm, and common assault.

He was refused bail and will appear in Parkes Local Court today.
