Manhunt After Glen Iris Aggravated Carjacking

Boroondara Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an aggravated carjacking in Glen Iris yesterday morning, 12 August.
It is understood the male victim was reversing his ute out of his driveway on Charles Street when he was approached by another man about 5.30am.
The man told the victim he was an undercover police officer and needed to commandeer the ute.
When the victim asked the man to produce identification, he produced a sharp implement and lunged at the victim.
The victim complied and the man fled the scene in the victim's white 2015 Toyota Hilux Ute with Victoria registration 1NC3DF.
The offender then attended a service station in Blackburn North just before 6am.
Officers were told he parked the stolen vehicle at the service station and purchased cigarettes with the victim's bank card.
Investigators have released an image of a man who may be able to assist with their enquiries.
The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, average height, with a beard and a tattoo on the back of his left hand.
He was wearing a blue beanie and dark clothing.
The stolen vehicle may have been in the vicinity of the Princes Freeway near Drouin West about 8am.
Police observed a stolen vehicle in the Morwell area around 12.30pm later that afternoon.
The vehicle was reportedly being driven erratically before it was dumped on the median strip of the Princes Freeway near Tramway Road.
The occupant was gone on police arrival and is yet to be located at this stage.
