Macedon Ranges Shire Council Director Community, Maria Weiss, will depart the organisation in coming weeks to take up the role of Director Community Life at Maribyrnong City Council.
Chief Executive Officer Bernie O'Sullivan has congratulated Maria on her achievements over the three and a half years she spent in the role.
"Maria will leave a positive impression on our organisation with her successful contribution to our Council both in service and program delivery, and the encouraging growth in our culture. Some of her achievements include rebuilding and guiding the Community Directorate, leading the successful transition of Aged Care services, and delivering a new kindergarten in Lancefield," he said.
"During her time with us, Maria has been integral to our Emergency Management response in a rural context - supporting the community through floods, storms and bushfires; presenting to the Parliamentary Inquiry into the 2022 flood insurance response; and acting as CEO particularly during the December 2024 bushfire event.
"We congratulate Maria on her contribution to the Macedon Ranges Shire Council and her leadership appointment at Maribyrnong City Council, and wish her and her family every success in the future. Thank you, Maria, you have been a valued member of the Executive Team."
Council will now work through and confirm acting and recruitment arrangements.
