Queensland Corrective Services is looking for Wide Bay locals or those looking to move to the area to join the front line of public safety at the Maryborough Correctional Centre in coming months.
50 permanent, secure full-time jobs are available.
General Manager of Maryborough Correctional Centre, Chief Superintendent Kris Winter, said QCS was looking for people with good communication skills and a desire to make the Wide Bay area a safer place.
"The Custodial Correctional Officer positions require people who would like to make a real difference to people's lives, act as role models and address the behaviours which led people into prison," Ch Supt Winter said.
"While many of our officers choose corrections as a career early on their lives, many come to the industry seeking a career change. We have had many people to come us after pursuing long term careers in the armed services, education, policing, construction, farming and processing industries.
"A career in custodial corrections can offer excellent work life balance providing for greater flexibility in fulfilling family commitments or pursuing other interests.

"We have an assessment centre on November 2-3 for potential custodial officers, and the first 10-week paid, onsite training course for 25 trainees starts in January 2022, with a second starting in April.
