Master Builders Victoria names top projects in state's South East

SJ Vuillermin Master Builders P/L and BFN Developments received top honours tonight at the South East Master Builders Regional Building Awards, held at Premiere Function Centre, Traralgon.

SJ Vuillermin Master Builders was named Residential Builder of the Year (South East) for an Inverloch home composed of sand-coloured, multi-textured rectilinear volumes.

The judges found the detail and execution of this project exemplary. Five different materials cover the external walls with each requiring a different specialist trade. Then interior features parquetry flooring throughout the main living areas and marble panelling on the bathroom walls, and a four-piece, book-ended panel of marble located underneath the suspended fireplace.

"The construction of this home draws attention to the varied materials that come together," Master Builders Victoria CEO Rebecca Casson said. "It is fascinating to see the way it creates the finished product."

BFN Developments was named Commercial Builder of the Year (South East) for its work on the Dalkeith Hostel extension and refurbishment, in Traralgon.

The facility was designed and constructed to accommodate a new model of care for seniors that helps ensure the residents receive person-centred care. The project includes significant technological innovation to assist staff and provide a safer and more enjoyable environment for residents.

"Good building and construction exemplified by projects like this one can do so much to serve a too-often marginalised demographic," Ms Casson said. "It helps to underscore the important role the building and construction sector plays in the lives of Victorian seniors."

SJ Vuillermin Master Builders will now compete in the Victorian Excellence in Housing Awards to be held on 11 October in Melbourne. BFN Developments will compete in the Victorian Excellence in Construction Awards to be held on 16 August at Palladium, Crown.
