Benalla Rural City Council gives notice, under the Local Government Act 1989 (the Act), of its intention to fix Mayoral and Councillor allowances at the maximum levels for a Category 1 Council as determined by the Minister for Local Government, currently $62,884 for the Mayor and $21,049 for Councillors per annum, payable monthly in advance.
An amount equivalent to the Superannuation Guarantee Contribution (currently 9.5 per cent) is payable in addition to the allowance amounts.
Submissions are invited regarding this proposal. Submissions received by 5pm Friday 5 March 2021 will be considered by the Council at a meeting of the Finance and Operations Committee on Wednesday 31 March 2021.
Any person who makes a submission incorporating a request to be heard is entitled to appear in person, or be represented by a person acting on their behalf, before a meeting of the Council.
