MCIU investigate serious crash in Kingsbury

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are on the scene of a single vehicle crash which occurred in Kingsbury this morning (29 April).

It is believed a black Mercedes sedan was travelling south on Plenty Road when the driver lost control and crashed into a pole at the intersection of Kingsbury Drive just after midnight.

The male driver, a 47-year-old Lalor man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

His female passenger, a 36-year-old Reservoir woman, was transported to hospital in a critical condition.

The exact cause of the crash is still being investigated.

Trams along route 86 on Plenty Road are affected in both directions and Plenty Road has been closed south bound to vehicles between Main Drive and Kingsbury Drive until further notice.

Vehicles are being diverted along Main Road (through LaTrobe University) and back onto Kingsbury Drive.
