Medicare Mental Health Centre For Bondi Now Open

Department of Health

Free, walk‑in mental health support is now available in Bondi for people affected by the terrorist attack, as part of the Government's response to support the local community.

The Medicare Mental Health Centre focused on trauma support is located at the Junction Neighbourhood Centre, 59 Newland St, Bondi Junction NSW.

Like other Medicare Mental Health Centres, it is a welcoming place where anyone can access free and confidential mental health information, services and supports. No appointment or referral is needed.

The Australian Government is providing $3.4 million over two years to Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network to fund the Medicare Mental Health Centre, which is operated by New Horizons.

The Centre is part of the Australian Government's $42.6 million investment in mental health supports in response to the Bondi terror attack including mental health programs for the Jewish community, services for first responders and support for children and young people.

The Australian Government continues to work with the New South Wales Government, mental health experts, and communities to make sure this additional support is provided in the best ways to meet the needs of the community.

People seeking mental health support after the terrorist attack from across NSW can also contact NSW Health's 24-hour Mental Health Line 1800 011 511. The hotline is connected to the national Medicare Mental Health Phone Service.

Crisis support is available through Lifeline on 13 11 14, 13YARN for First Nations Australians, Beyond Blue on 1300 224 636 and Kids Helpline for young people, and their parents and carers on 1800 55 1800 or chat online at kidshelpline.com.au.
