The Albanese Government is delivering three new Medicare Urgent Care Clinics, all now open in Marrickville, Burwood and Rouse Hill.
The clinics offer walk-in care for urgent but non-life-threatening conditions and patients will be fully bulk billed. The clinics are open seven days a week, and all operate for extended hours:
- The Marrickville Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is located at 14 Rich St, Marrickville, open 8am - 10pm
- The Burwood Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is located at shop G01/8 Elsie Street, Burwood open 8am - 10pm
- The Rouse Hill Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is located at Level 1,10-14 Market Lane, Rouse Hill, open 8am - 8pm
The Medicare Urgent Care Clinics will help to ease pressure on NSW local hospitals where around 30 per cent of presentations in 2023-24 were for semi-urgent or non-urgent conditions.
New data from the NSW Bureau of Health shows the Albanese Government's Medicare Urgent Care Clinics across New South Wales are easing pressure on NSW hospitals. Semi-urgent presentations to NSW emergency departments have dropped by 5.1 per cent while non-urgent presentations have dropped by 8.7 per cent.
Nationally, Medicare Urgent Care Clinics have seen more than 2.2 million presentations since the first sites opened in June 2023 and across New South Wales there have been over 452,000 presentations.
The Medicare Urgent Care Clinics were selected to operate following a competitive tender process led by local Primary Health Networks.
