A council worker from Cranbourne, Melbourne, has had his dreams of retirement and relocation to unite with his family come to fruition with a staggering $1.4 million win in the recent Saturday Lotto draw 4431 on Saturday 6 January 2024.
The winner secured one of the seven division one winning entries, bagging a handsome prize of $1,428,580.38.
The million-dollar news came as a complete shock after the winning man revealed he normally didn’t win anything more than ‘a chook raffle’.
“I’m in shock,” he laughed.
“I think I checked the ticket more than 10 times.
“Thank you so much. I don’t know how to process this.
“I don’t normally win much. The most I’ve ever won is a chook raffle. This is definitely more than one chook – I can buy 20 chooks!
“I didn’t get much sleep – a lot of tossing and turning – and a lot of thinking about the win.
“I’m not a regular TattsLotto player. In fact, I don’t usually purchase tickets into TattsLotto, but I saw the offer was $10 million, and I thought to myself, ‘Oh, wouldn’t that be nice to win.”
“I purchased a QuickPick into the draw and didn’t think twice. I guess now these are my lucky numbers.
“My kids live up in Queensland. I’ve been thinking of retiring from my council job and moving to be closer to them. They all live there. One in Brisbane, and the rest in the Sunshine Coast.
“My siblings also have been asking when I’d be taking some leave to come visit them on holiday and now I can. I’ll have all the leave in the world!”
His winning 50-game QuickPick ticket was purchased online at the official lottery website. The lucky numbers for the draw were 17, 12, 36, 42, 13, and 34, with 41 and 38 as supplementary numbers.
