Four shoppers from Berwick have become multi-millionaires overnight after their syndicate scored division one in last night’s Powerball draw 1439 on Thursday, December 14, 2023. The syndicate was one of two division one winning entries nationally, with each winning entry taking home $15 million. The other division one winning ticket was held by a player in New South Wales.
The excitement among the winners was palpable, with one of the syndicate members expressing her overwhelming emotions upon hearing the news.
“Oh, my heart is going a thousand miles an hour. Don’t give me a heart attack! I’m too young for that. Oh my god, I don’t believe it!” the local woman exclaimed.
“I’m shaking. You’re making me shake!
“You don’t know how life-changing this is.
“I’m going to buy my very own home and help my children out.
“Happy New Year to me!”
The shares for the winning syndicate were sold at Berwick Springs Lotto and News, located in Eden Rise Village on O’Shea Road, Berwick.
Bernard Aulia, the owner of Berwick Springs Lotto and News, shared his joy and disbelief at selling a division one winning syndicate.
“I’m just speechless and very happy that our outlet could sell a division one winning syndicate for a Powerball draw,” he said.
“We’ve been on quite the winning streak this year. We’ve sold nine division one winning tickets since 2015 and three of these have been this year alone.
“What a thrill and a great Christmas surprise!
“This win fills our hearts with joy. Congratulations to all our winners.
