Melbourne's Southeast Hit by Aggravated Burglaries Spree

Eastern Region Crime Squad detectives are appealing for public assistance following a series of aggravated burglaries across Melbourne's south-east overnight.

It is understood the thieves' targeted homes on Glen Iris Road, Lurnea Road, Allison Avenue and Celia Street and another on Duke Street in Ashburton between the hours of 3.30am and 6.30am.

The offenders broke into a property on Glen Iris Road while the residents were sleeping and stole two vehicles, before attempting to steal a third car.

They also broke into a property on Celia Street and stole a car and another set of car keys to another vehicle, before fleeing the scene.

Additionally, the group also stole valuables from inside a vehicle on Straughan Street in Glen Iris and attempted to steal valuable from a car at a property on Lockhart Street in Camberwell, about 4.40pm.

It's believed no property was stolen from the other addresses.

No one was injured.

Police are encouraging residents to lock their doors, as it appears the thieves targeted unlocked properties.

Officers will be conducting a series of foot patrols in the area across the weekend to ensure community safety.
