A member of an organised criminal network will appear in court today after being charged as part of ongoing Serious Crime Prevention Order compliance operations.
On Friday 18 December 2020, the Supreme Court issued a 26-year-old man with a Serious Crime Prevention Order (SCPO) following an application by the State Crime Command's Criminal Groups Squad.
An SCPO may contain such prohibitions, restrictions, requirements and other provisions as the court considers appropriate for the purpose of protecting the public by preventing, restricting or disrupting involvement by a person in serious crime related activities.
After identifying a number of suspected breaches as part of ongoing inquiries into compliance with SCPOs, the 26-year-old man was arrested by officers from the Criminal Groups and Raptor Squads during a vehicle stop at Panania about 3.15pm yesterday (Friday 26 February 2021).
Officers also spoke with the other occupant of the vehicle, a 33-year-old man from Sydney's CBD.
During a subsequent search warrant at a North Sydney unit and a Firearms Prohibition Order search at a unit in Sydney's CBD, officers seized clothing, steroids and mobile phones.
The Auburn man was taken to Bankstown Police Station, where he was charged with 10 counts of contravene Serious Crime Prevention Order and possess prohibited drug.
Police will allege in court that the man had contravened his SCPO by not notifying authorities before he resided at alternate addresses, used alternate vehicles, and possessed and/or used multiple mobile phones and SIM cards.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 27 February 2021).
