On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of Venezuela as they celebrate their country's independence on July 5. In the face of unimaginable challenges and oppression, the Venezuelan people continue to work tirelessly for fundamental freedoms and to restore democracy in their homeland. The United States remains firm in its support for the Venezuelan people and their efforts to build a free and prosperous nation.
