Michael Ferguson refuses invitation to visit King Island

Tasmanian Labor

The Infrastructure Minister Michael Ferguson has refused an invitation to visit King Island and discuss concerns about changes to King Island Shipping.

The Labor Leader and Shadow Minister for Infrastructure Rebecca White raised King Island residents' concerns about the changes in budget estimates today.

The Mayor, Julie Arnold, has consistently advocated for her community after the changes caused concern for the business community and the King Island Shipping Group.

Despite requests from the Mayor for Mr Ferguson to meet with the King Island Shipping executive, nothing has been scheduled.

During today's budget estimates hearings, Ms White invited Minister Ferguson to join her when she visits King Island next month, but he refused.

The community of King Island deserve better than lip service from a government that won't even meet with them to discuss these changes.
