The digital transformation of government in NSW has received a major boost with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Microsoft Australia and the Department of Finance, Services, and Innovation (DFSI).
DFSI Secretary Martin Hoffman said the MOU will kickstart a series of ideation sessions aimed at progressing digital transformation across NSW Government.
"Having the invaluable support of Microsoft's experts will greatly accelerate the Government's digital journey," Mr Hoffman said.
"This includes greater collaboration on building a data-centric approach to good government, important cyber, platform and capability development initiatives."
The announcement coincides with the opening of the Microsoft Technology Centre (MTC) in Sydney.
"NSW is already benefitting from the impact of digital transformation in terms of streamlined services and access for residents and businesses," Mr Hoffman said.
"This Memorandum of Understanding will allow us to bring Department Heads to the MTC where they can see what more can be achieved with digital services, improved efficiencies and good value solutions.
"We expect there will be significant positive impact for citizens and businesses as well as operational efficiencies for Government."
The NSW Government released its digital strategy in 2017, which outlined a vision and roadmap for transformation.
