Migrant Domestic Worker's Journey To Empowerment

A migrant domestic worker's journey to empowerment

Champa is a Myanmar domestic worker in Thailand. She started her journey with having little awareness about her rights, to leading Thailand's network of migrant domestic workers.

What happens when workers know their rights and find their voices? Change begins. Like many others, Champa is a Myanmar migrant in Thailand who once worked as a domestic worker without fully understanding her rights. But after joining a leading network for migrant domestic workers, she gained knowledge, confidence, and found her voice.

She has since become a recognized leader who stands up for her own rights and shares that knowledge with fellow migrant domestic workers.

With support from the ILO PROTECT project, she and her peers are now engaging directly with the national government to advocate for stronger protections, empowerment, and lasting positive change.
