Millennials targeted for a Fly and Drive NT Holiday

Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture

Tourism NT has launched its annual Drive campaign for 2020 today encouraging interstate visitors, including a younger demographic to take a 'fly and drive' holiday to the NT with the message that the NT is 'nothing like your normal road trip'.

Accompanying the campaign is a brand new inspirational drive guide showcasing Territory drive itinerary options with the campaign promoted to interstate markets via a digital marketing campaign up to 10 May.

The 2020 Drive campaign follows the recently announced Key to the NT, a free program in partnership with the Caravan Industry Association of the Australia that promotes NT tourism operators and experiences for interstate visitors available from 1 April 2020.

As noted by Executive General Manager Marketing Tourism NT, Tony Quarmby:

"The 2020 Drive campaign is targeting a different demographic to our traditional 'grey nomad' by looking at younger holidaymakers for a fly and drive holiday. This has been driven by recent research that shows 60 per cent of the market interested in a drive holiday are under 50, with a quarter under 29 years of age.

"It was timely for the NT to showcase its drive options to a younger audience and create awareness of a fly/drive holiday to the Territory.

"Tourism NT continues to also promote the Territory's destinations to the traditional drive market looking for a long drive holiday destination."
