Ian Borg, Malta's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, today took part in the meeting of the Ministers' Deputies, following the transfer of the presidency of the Committee of Ministers from Luxembourg to Malta on 14 May.
In his communication to the ambassadors, Ian Borg pointed out that this presidency comes at a delicate time for Europe, faced with Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and a number of other challenges, to which the Maltese Presidency intends to respond with a political programme that is inclusive and forward-looking.
On this occasion, the Maltese flag was raised in Strasbourg and a tram in the colours of the Maltese Presidency inaugurated, in the presence of Minister Borg, Secretary General Alain Berset, and Luxembourg Ambassador Patrick Engelberg.
