The Honourable David J. McGuinty, Minister of National Defence, issued the following statement regarding a road traffic accident involving cadets in Sainte-Rose-de-Watford, Quebec:

"I am deeply saddened by reports of the road traffic accident this morning in Sainte-Rose-de-Watford, Quebec, involving a bus carrying young members of the Cadet Program.

"My thoughts are with the cadets, staff members, and families affected by this heartbreaking incident, as well as the entire cadet community.

"I also want to thank the first responders who provided assistance at the scene.

"The Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers Group is working closely with families and local authorities, and our priority remains supporting the cadets, staff members, and their loved ones during this difficult time."
