Firefighters from Edithvale Fire Brigade were called to a property in Aspendale Gardens just before 2.30pm on Saturday April 20 to reports of a cow stuck in a dam.

On arrival, they found a young cow firmly stuck in the mud around the edge of the dam.

The large animal rescue team from Macclesfield Fire Brigade was immediately paged to assist with the rescue.

After waiting for the vet to arrive, Edithvale members assisted with muscle power to help pull the cow free from the dam using the well-established techniques of the Macclesfield CFA team.

Fortunately the cow was able to get up and walk away, and was soon back to eating grass in its paddock.

The incident was deemed safe at 4.55pm.
