Missing Bushwalker Located - Northern Rivers

A search has concluded after a missing bushwalker was found safe and well today in the Northern Rivers area.

About 10pm yesterday (Tuesday 13 January 2026), police were called to a property at Rosebank - about 22km west of Byron Bay - following reports of a missing person.

At the property, police were told that a 75-year-old man had failed to return home and regularly walked trails in the nearby Nightcap National Park.

Police attached to Richmond Police District commenced a search of the nearby area including the Quandong Trail, Quandong Falls Track, and Minyon Falls.

The search was suspended overnight and resumed in the area about 8am this morning (Wednesday 14 January 2026).

The search involved local police assisted by the Dog Unit, Police Rescue, VRA, RFS and the NSW SES.

About 11.10am today, the 75-year-old man was located safe and well on a walking trail about 3.5km from his home.

The man did not report any injuries and appeared to be in good spirits.
