Missing man located deceased in Deniliquin

A search for a missing man on the Victorian border has been called off after a body was discovered today.

The man, aged 73 from Swan Hill in Victoria, was reported missing to Victoria Police yesterday.

Following inquiries, about 6.40am on Thursday 24 November 2016, police from Deniliquin Local Area Command assisted by members of Victoria Police and the State Emergency Service (SES) attended Murray Downs, near the Swan Hill Bridge on the Murray River conducting a co-ordinated search for the man.

That search continued today until about 2.45pm when a man’s body was discovered, NSW Police say.

The body is yet to be formally identified and will undergo a post mortem examination.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner however the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Officers from Deniliquin Local Area Command have thanked the numerous SES volunteers and officers from Victoria Police who have assisted them in this search.
