Missing man rescued from river in Campsie

A man has been rescued after officers located him in the Cooks River at Campsie overnight, NSW Police say.

The 62-year-old man was reported missing from his home on Second Avenue about 6pm (Sunday 3 June 2018).

About 8.45pm, officers from Campsie Police Area Command responded to reports of a man moaning in the vicinity of the Cooks River.

In the darkness the officers searched the banks and located the man waist deep in water.

They entered the water and brought him to shore where he was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics for possible exposure and taken to St George Hospital for treatment.
