Missing Person - Edith Falls

Police are continuing an extensive search for a missing 67-year-old male at Edith Falls, approximately 40km north of Katherine, Northern Territory Police say.

Mr Alex Rosenberg was reported missing earlier this week on Tuesday morning after his belongings were located at the camp grounds of Edith Falls, with Mr Rosenberg nowhere to be seen.

Acting Superintendent of the Katherine Division Mark Malogorski said a systematic search involving NT Police, NT Parks and Wildlife Jawoyn Rangers and Northern Territory Emergency Services has been ongoing since Tuesday morning.

"The search area covers approximately 40 square kilometres," A/Supt Malogorski said.

"The response and support from other agencies has been outstanding, with rangers being brought in from as far away as Timber Creek, Darwin and Mataranka."

In addition, two helicopters are being utilised in the search as well as a specialist Police Dive Team conducting underwater operations in support of the search."

So far search personnel on foot have scoured over 70km of ground in extremely rugged and unforgiving country in hot conditions and aircraft have flown over 500km conducting aerial search tasks."

Police now hold grave fears for the safety of the missing man and will continue search efforts today.
