On 26th May 2018 at 19:15 hours police responded to a report of a missing person in the Somerset area. As a result a search of the beach and water in the Somerset area was conducted utilizing resources from Tasmania Police, State Emergency Services, Tasmania Fire Service, Tasmania Ambulance Service and Surf Life Saving Australia, Tasmania Police say.
The search located the missing person, an eighteen year old Burnie women, cold but uninjured on rocks near the Somerset Beach. The women was transported to the North West Regional Hospital for after being located.
Sergeant Craig Harvey said "Police would like to thank the Surf Life Saving Australia and State Emergency Service volunteers, along with members of the public who assisted in the search. Their efforts have contributed to a positive resolution of the incident".
