Missing Persons Week 2017 - Missing Person Sevak Simonian, NSW

The family of missing man Sevak Simonian has joined the NSW Police Force at the launch of NSW Missing Persons Week 2017 to appeal for information to help locate him.

Strike Force Antare was established by officers from Chifley Local Area Command to investigate the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Mr Simonian, from Belrose on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

Mr Simonian, then aged 21, was last seen at his home on Perentie Road, Belrose, on Monday 20 October 2014, when he told his parents he was going out.

Concerned relatives reported him missing when he had not returned by Thursday 23 October 2014.

The following day (24 October 2014), his car – a white Ford Falcon station wagon – was located at the Kanangra Walls Road car park at Kanangra Boyd National Park on Friday 24 October 2014.

Police launched a wide-scale search in the Kanangra Boyd National Park near Oberon, but he could not be located.

Investigations by detectives attached to Northern Beaches Local Area Command have since confirmed that he has not accessed any bank accounts or made any phone calls since 20 October 2014.

While Mr Simonian’s disappearance is not being treated as suspicious at this stage, police and family hold serious concerns for his welfare.

Friends and family have told investigators it’s completely out of character for him not to make contact with anyone.

Mr Simonian is described as being about 180cm tall, with a thin build, olive skin, short black curly hair and brown eyes.

Northern Beaches Local Area Command Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Craig Wonders, urged anyone with information on Mr Simonian’s disappearance to come forward.

"It’s been almost three years since Mr Simonian was last seen and his family are desperate for answers. The pain of not knowing what’s happened to someone you care about, or whether they’re safe, can be incredibly devastating," Det Insp Wonders said.

"Any information, no matter how insignificant, could be the missing puzzle piece to solving the disappearance of Mr Simonian. I urge you to pick up the phone and call Crime Stoppers.
