Missing Victorian man in Central Highlands found alive and well, TAS

A missing 21 year old Victorian man lost in the 1000 Lakes area in Tasmania’s Central Highlands has been found alive and well, Tasmania Police say.

Police were notified at 7.30pm last night that the man – who had been fishing with friends – did not return after walking ahead of the group near Lake Ada.

Police resumed searching for the man early this morning, with the man being located by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter near Talinah Lagoon, west of Lake Ada about 10am.

The man was uninjured but was checked by paramedics as a precaution.

Police said that man became disorientated while walking ahead of his friends. He walked until about 11pm before finding shelter in a small cave and started walking again about 5am.

He got the attention of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter crew, which picked him up and took him back to the Police Forward Command post at Lake Augusta.
