The search for a missing woman in the Muswellbrook area has resulted in a body located this afternoon, NSW Police say.
The 38-year-old woman was swimming with a 51-year-old man in the Hunter River near Sydney Street yesterday afternoon yesterday, when the man left momentarily.
When he returned, the woman was not able to be located and emergency services were notified.
Officers from Hunter Valley Local Area Command and State Emergency Service commenced searching for her.
Around midday today, the body of a woman was located in waters nearby.
While the woman’s body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing woman.
Inquiries into circumstances surrounding the incident are underway.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
