East Gippsland Shire Council's new mobile stage will officially be launched as part of the ColourFest youth event to be held from 3.30pm on Friday 5 April 2019 at the Lakes Entrance foreshore.

Cr Natalie O'Connell said the stage, gifted to the community by the Dahlsen family, will be a terrific community asset that is available for hire by community members and organisations.

"The mobile stage, sound and lighting equipment will provide a professional platform for award ceremonies, performances at outdoor festivals, gatherings and community events," Cr O'Connell said.

"It provides communities throughout the shire a stage to not only showcase local talent but to attract artists and entertainers to create accessible arts, culture and entertainment opportunities. We want to thank the Dahlsen family for gifting the mobile stage for use by the community and to assist in promoting the arts and cultural activities in the region."

The mobile stage measures eight metres wide by six metres deep and is complemented with basic lighting and audio equipment. A generator can also be supplied if power is unavailable at the location.

Hire costs cover delivery to the event site, set-up, pack-down and removal from the site (affordable community group hire rates are available).

The mobile stage can be hired by community members and organisations through Council's Forge Theatre and Arts Hub. Expressions of interest can be lodged at the Forge Theatre and Arts Hub section on Council's website or by phone (03) 5153 9500.

The fifth annual ColourFest offers a fantastic opportunity to celebrate young people's contributions and talents, and encourages community involvement. Council's Youth Ambassadors have played a key role in organising the event.
