Moira Shire Council is deeply saddened and shocked by the events at Bondi Beach in Sydney last night. We condemn these actions in the strongest terms.
Our thoughts are with those who were tragically killed and injured, their loved ones and everyone in the community who has been impacted.
Events like this are deeply unsettling – especially for people who feel personally targeted or who are fearful because of their identity, faith or background.
Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and supported. There is no place for hatred, violence or intimidation in our communities, our workplaces, our schools, our homes or our places of worship.
If you are feeling upset or worried, take care of yourself and those around you; please reach out for help if you need it.
We also want to acknowledge and sincerely thank the first responders and community heroes who acted quickly and selflessly in the face of the unfolding crisis.
