Mona Foma to go ahead in 2021

Tasmania's reputation as a cultural hot spot will continue to shine with Mona Foma kick-starting our 2021 summer season.

Mona Foma showcases Tasmania's fine creative industries, contributes to our state's cultural fabric and provides a massive economic boost into the local economy.

Given the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on local events and businesses, next year's event will take place over two weekends in both Hobart and Launceston.

After a hugely successful Mona Foma festival in 2020, Tasmania will once again light up with unique events, performances and art installations, with Mona Foma hosting events in venues across both locations during the week between the two festival weekends.

It's been a difficult year for so many events, and it's great news that Mona Foma will still go ahead, but spread across two locations so it can be safely held, attended by Tasmanians in both the north and south, and delivering economic benefits across the state. It also ensures Tasmanian musicians, performers and artists can showcase their talents to audiences in both Launceston and Hobart who are eagerly awaiting their return to live crowds.

Importantly, events will be held across multiple smaller venues to manage the COVID-19 risk, and venue operators and event organisers need to be aware of the requirements in place they must comply with to reduce the risk of COVID transmission to their staff and patrons.

Mona Foma will run from Friday 15 January until Sunday 24 January 2021, guided by a COVID-Safe plan.
