Mona Foma to put Launceston on world stage

After a hugely successful Mona Foma festival in 2019, Launceston is again ready to capture the imagination of locals and visitors in 2020.

For a second year, Launceston will be on the world stage, with the festival set to light up Launceston with events, performances and art installations across the city, at the Gorge, on the banks of the Tamar and at festival HQ – Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery.

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government is providing $1.75 million a year over three years to support Mona Foma as part of our $6 million events and arts package for Northern Tasmania, from 2019-2021.

To help promote the event, Tourism Tasmania has again teamed up with Mona Foma to run the Air Mofo competition, which this year is offering one lucky winner and 149 of their friends a chartered flight to Launceston, along with festival tickets.

The competition attracted 6162 subscriptions during the first three days of the seven-day teaser campaign earlier this month.

It was a pleasure to join Brian Ritchie and the Mona Foma team today to launch the line-up of high quality performers and acts for this year's festival.

Mona Foma showcases Tasmania's fine creative industries, attracts visitors to the state and provides a massive economic boost into the local economy.
