Monash Freeway closed after single vehicle crash

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are currently on the scene of a single vehicle crash which occurred in Mulgrave this morning (11 June).

Investigators believe the silver Holden wagon was travelling inbound on the Monash Freeway when it appears the vehicle left the road and crashed into a concrete pillar about 12.15am.

Two teenage girls were in the rear seat of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

One of the girls was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries and the second teenager was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 40's was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A woman also aged in her 40's, was taken to hospital for observation.

The crash occurred between Wellington Road and Springvale Road and in bound on the Monash Freeway is closed until further notice.

Traffic outbound on the Monash has been reduced to the two left lanes and speed has been reduced to 40km/ph.
